Installing the App
Get the Vitals app on your phone so you can log attendance, snap a photo for AI counting, and check your dashboard — all before you leave the parking lot.
Picture this: It's 12:15pm on Sunday. Service just ended, you're shaking hands in the lobby, and the worship pastor asks, "Hey, how many did we have today?" Instead of scribbling on a bulletin and hoping you remember to enter it later, you pull out your phone, open Vitals, and log today's numbers in about 30 seconds. Done before you even get to your car.
That's what the Vitals mobile app is for. Here's how to get set up.
Step 1: Download Vitals
Vitals is free to download on both iPhone and Android. Search for "Vitals Church" in your app store, or tap one of these:
Download on the
App Store
Get it on
Google Play
The app is completely free — there's no separate subscription for mobile. If you have a Vitals account, you already have access.
Step 2: Sign In
Here's the good news: your login is the same one you use on the web. No separate account, no new password to remember. If you can sign in at vitals.church on your laptop, you can sign in on the app with the exact same credentials.
- 1Open the Vitals app after it finishes installing
- 2Tap Sign In and enter the same email (or Google account) you use on the web
- 3If your account is connected to more than one church, pick the right one from the list
- 4That's it — your dashboard loads right away with all your latest data
Pro tip: If your church admin just invited you via email, accept the invitation and create your account on the web first. Then sign into the app with those same credentials. It takes the guesswork out of it.
What You Can Do in the App
The mobile app isn't a watered-down version of the website — it's built for the things you actually need to do on a Sunday morning or while you're away from your desk.
Enter Metrics
Tap in attendance, giving, and other weekly numbers right after service while they're still fresh in your mind. Most people finish in under a minute.
AI Photo Counting
Point your camera at the congregation, snap a photo, and let Vitals AI estimate the headcount for you. No more counting rows and multiplying. Learn more
Mobile Dashboard
Check your trends, weekly summaries, and key metrics from anywhere. Great for when a board member asks "how are things going?" over coffee.
Push Notifications
Get a gentle Sunday evening reminder if you haven't entered data yet. No more "oh no, I forgot to log last week" moments on Wednesday.
Requirements
The app is lightweight and works on most phones made in the last several years. Here's what you need:
iPhone: iOS 15 or later (iPhone 8 and newer)
Android: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
Internet connection required to sync data. If you enter numbers while offline (like in a basement fellowship hall with no signal), the app will queue your entry and upload it as soon as you reconnect.
Camera access is only needed for AI photo counting. If you just want to type in numbers manually, you can skip the camera permission entirely.
Troubleshooting
Most installs go smoothly, but here are the issues we hear about occasionally:
"I can't find it in the App Store"
Search for "Vitals Church" — not just "Vitals." There are a lot of health and fitness apps called Vitals, so adding "Church" helps you find the right one quickly. Look for our blue logo.
"It says my password is wrong"
Double-check that you're using the same email you signed up with on the web. If you originally signed in with Google, tap the "Sign in with Google" button on the app instead of typing your email. Still stuck? Try resetting your password at vitals.church/forgot-password.
"I signed in but I don't see my church's data"
If your account is connected to multiple organizations, make sure you selected the right church after logging in. You can switch organizations from the settings menu. If you only see a blank dashboard, your admin may not have added you to the team yet — reach out to them to confirm your invitation.
"The app won't install on my phone"
This usually means your phone's operating system needs an update. Vitals requires iOS 15+ or Android 8.0+. Go to your phone's Settings and check for software updates. If your phone is too old to update, you can always use vitals.church in your mobile browser — it works great on phones too.
"I'm not getting push notifications"
When you first open the app, it will ask for permission to send notifications. If you tapped "Don't Allow," you can fix this in your phone's Settings → Vitals → Notifications → toggle them on. This is worth doing — the Sunday evening reminder is genuinely helpful for building the data entry habit.
