Troubleshooting

Known Issues & System Status

We believe in being upfront about what's working and what's not. Here's the current status of Vitals, including any active issues and what we're doing about them.

Overall System Status: Operational

Vitals is up and running. Core features including the dashboard, data syncing, reports, and team management are all working normally. Below you'll find details on a couple of specific issues we're tracking, but the vast majority of Vitals is working great.

Active Issues We're Working On

These are things we know about and are actively fixing. We've included workarounds for each one so your church isn't stuck waiting.

Church Online Platform Integration Temporarily Unavailable

In Progress

Church Online Platform (the tool many churches use for online services and chat) recently made changes to how they share data with other apps. We're updating our connection to work with their new system. In the meantime, Vitals can't automatically pull your Church Online viewer numbers.

Expected fix: We're in active development on this. We'll send an email to all affected churches as soon as the updated integration is ready.

What to do in the meantime: You can enter your online viewer count manually each week. Go to your weekly data entry form and you'll see a field for online viewers. Check your Church Online Platform dashboard for the viewer count and type it in. It takes about 30 seconds.

Will I lose data? No. Once the integration is restored, you'll have uninterrupted data — the manual entries you make now will stay in place, and automatic syncing will pick up from there.

PDF Report Export Not Working in Safari

Known Bug

If you're using Safari (Apple's browser) and try to export a report as a PDF, it might fail silently or give you a blank file. This is caused by a compatibility issue between Safari and our PDF generation tool.

Easy workaround: Use Chrome or Firefox when you need to export PDFs. Everything else in Vitals works perfectly fine in Safari — it's just the PDF export that's affected.

Tip: If you need to share a report for a board meeting and only have Safari available, you can use Safari's built-in “Print → Save as PDF” option (File → Print → PDF dropdown) as a temporary workaround. The formatting won't be as polished, but it gets the job done.

Recently Resolved

Good news! These issues have been fixed. If you were affected by any of these, they should be working now.

Planning Center Giving Sync

Fixed Feb 2025

Fixed! Planning Center giving sync is now rock-solid. Previously, giving data from Planning Center was syncing inconsistently — some churches would see their Monday morning numbers and others wouldn't. We rebuilt the sync engine and giving data now arrives reliably every Monday morning. If you're still not seeing giving data, check our sync troubleshooting guide.

Multi-Campus Dashboard Crash

Fixed Jan 2025

Fixed! Churches with 5 or more campuses were experiencing crashes when switching between campuses on the dashboard. The campus selector now works smoothly no matter how many campuses your church has. Whether you're a 2-campus church or a 20-campus network, you're good to go.

Found Something Weird? Here's How to Tell Us

If you've spotted a bug or something that doesn't seem right, we want to know about it. The more detail you can give us, the faster we can fix it.

Email support@vitals.church with the subject line “Bug Report” and include:

  • What happened: Describe what you saw. For example, “I clicked Export Report and got a blank page” is much more helpful than “export is broken.”
  • What you expected to happen: This helps us understand the gap. “I expected to see a PDF download” tells us exactly what to test.
  • Steps to reproduce: Walk us through exactly what you did. “I went to Reports → Attendance → clicked Export → chose PDF” helps us recreate the issue on our end.
  • Your browser & device: Just something like “Chrome on Windows” or “Safari on iPad.”
  • A screenshot: If you can grab one, it's worth a thousand words. On Mac, press Cmd+Shift+4 to screenshot a selection. On Windows, press Win+Shift+S.

We aim to respond within 1 business day. For urgent issues that affect your whole team, mention “urgent” in the subject line.

Have an Idea That Would Make Vitals Better?

We're all ears. Some of our best features came from churches telling us what they needed.

Feature requests are different from bug reports. A bug is “something is broken.” A feature request is “I wish Vitals could do this thing.” Both are valuable to us!

Send feature ideas to support@vitals.church with the subject line “Feature Request: [your idea]”. Here's what helps us most:

  • What problem would this solve for your church? For example, “Our elders want to see giving trends per campus, but right now we can only see the total” gives us great context.
  • How are you working around it today? This tells us how urgent the need is and what a solution should improve upon.
  • How many people at your church would use this? Features that help entire teams tend to move up our list faster.

We read every single feature request, and many of the features in Vitals today started as an email from a church just like yours. We can't promise a timeline on every request, but we'll always let you know we received it and whether it's something we're considering.
